The north London club are stepping up their bid to sign the 17-year-old.
Tottenham have reportedly commenced talks with Croatia’s teenage star Alen Halilovic over a move to White Hart Lane.
The 17-year-old Dinamo Zagreb midfielder is considered to be one of Europe’s most prodigious young talents and has attracted interest from a number of elite clubs since making his debut last year.
He also made history as he became the youngest player to represent Croatia’s senior side when making his international bow in friendly match against Portugal in June.
Manchester City were linked with Halilovic towards the end of last year but their interest as since cooled leaving Spurs in pole position to capture his signature. The Express understand that Dinamo director of football Zdravko Mamic flew to Dubrovnik on Thursday to meet chairman Daniel Levy in order to thrash out a deal.
Levy has maintained a good relationship with officials at the Maksimir Stadium ever since Luka Modric’s move to the north London club in 2008, and it appears the youngster could follow in the footsteps of the now-Real Madrid star.
It’s believed Halilovic became available after a falling out between Mamic and Blues manager Krunoslav Jurcic despite rumours that Mevludin Julardzija had been lined up to replace the teenage prodigy.
