Spurs player ratings from the Europa League last-16 first leg from White Hart Lane.
Hugo Lloris: 5/10
Not much the Frenchman could do for the first two goals but he was arguably slightly at fault for the third and was almost guilty of a disastrous mistake at 2-1. He’s a fabulous sweeper keeper but often comes close to crossing the line into absolute liability.
Kyle Walker: 6/10
The England right back didn’t look fully fit and was replaced by Danny Rose towards the end. Three seasons of rarely being rested appear to be taking their toll on Walker.
Kyle Naughton: 4/10
He tried hard, as ever, but he’s a Championship player at best. Benfica’s third came after he was easily beaten on the touchline by Nicolas Gaitan.
Younes Kaboul: 6/10
His imperious runs forward and strong tackles hid the captain’s mistake for Benfica’s second goal. He’ll need to stay fit until the end of the season to earn a new deal.
Jan Vertonghen: 6/10
Looked more comfortable back at centre half but his late booking rules him out of the game in Portugal.
