Spurs manage to turn it around to secure a victory at White Hart Lane.
It had been a difficult week for Tottenham Hotspur going into this Premier League clash with Southampton, after losing the north London derby to Arsenal and being eliminated from the Europa League.
With a spate of injuries overcoming Spurs as well, things didn’t look to be improving for Tim Sherwood and his side as they trailed 1-2 at half-time to the impressive Saints.
A brace from Christian Eriksen was capped off with a 92nd minute effort from Gylfi Sigurdsson to secure all three points and here’s how the Tottenham stars rated at White Hart Lane.
Hugo Lloris – 6
There were concerns that the Frenchman would be injured for the tie, but Lloris recovered in time to make the starting XI and put in a solid performance.
Kyle Naughton – 4
Spurs want Kyle Walker back as soon as possible based on this display as Naughton was very poor defensively and looks increasingly out of his depth at this level.
Younes Kaboul – 5
Could not cope with Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez and this was something of a baptism of fire for the Frenchman on return to the first team.
Jan Vertonghen – 6
Was a better option than Kaboul at the back, but still this wasn’t a brilliant display from Vertonghen who needs to sharpen up soon.
Danny Rose – 6
An average performance from the Englishman, although compared to Naughton the left-back looked like Roberto Carlos.
