AVB has identified David Villa and Jackson Martinez as potential summer signings at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham are plotting an ambitious £45m double deal to sign Barcelona’s David Villa and Jackson Martinez of Porto, according to reports in the London Evening Standard.
The paper claims that Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas wants to sign two strikers this summer, after both Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe failed to consistently impress this season.
While talks with Barca over a £12m deal for Spain’s record goal-scorer Villa are at an advanced stage, it will take a substantial bid to land Martinez, who is wanted by Europe’s elite after a stunning season for Porto.
The 26-year-old Colombian finished the campaign as the Primera Liga’s top scorer with 26 goals, after arriving for £7m from Mexican outfit Jaguares last summer.
Porto value Martinez at a staggering £33.4m but Villas-Boas has reportedly told Spurs’ hierarchy he wants to sign the Colombia star.
The Portuguese has also identified Zenit St Petersburg striker Hulk, who he signed for Porto, as a potential summer arrival but Spurs’ hopes of luring Christian Benteke from Aston Villa have reportedly faded, with Aston Villa keen to tie the Belgian to a new deal and Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund also keen on the 22-year-old.
