Spurs are interested in bringing Bamford to north London.
Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford – who is currently on-loan at Derby County – has emerged as a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, reports the Metro.
The 20-year-old has been enjoying a great year in front of goal, scoring 17 times in 30 matches whilst with MK Dons and currently has five in seven for Derby – including a wonder strike against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
Yet despite this success in the lower leagues the chance of Bamford getting any first team action at Stamford Bridge next term is limited, as Jose Mourinho will be looking to make high profile signings in attack and Romelu Lukaku will also be returning from a loan spell.
However, Spurs boss Tim Sherwood is a huge admirer of the England under-21 international and is prepared to give the forward plenty of opportunities at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham’s squad is beginning to look a little light up front, as although Emmanuel Adebayor is enjoying something of a renaissance under Sherwood, beyond the Togo international things looks bleak.
Jermain Defoe will be leaving north London on February 28 for FC Toronto, whilst £26m attacker Roberto Soldado is struggling for form of late and the only other option is Harry Kane.
Therefore signings in attack will be vital for Spurs and Bamford would probably be available for a relatively low price.
It would be a gamble by Sherwood to put a striker who has never played Premier League football straight into a team vying for the Champions League places, but it’s one that could well pay off.
