Welshman said to be ‘distraught’ at Tottenham’s stance.
Tottenham have rejected a world record £86m bid for Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, leaving the forward ‘distraught’, reports The Guardian.
The 24-year-old reportedly wants to play Champions League football next season and is deeply attracted by the allure of Real for whom he has always dreamed of playing for.
The Wales international is said to be ‘horrified’ by the stance of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who has insisted his prized-asset is not for sale. The player believes Real’s move represents a ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’ and the situation is reportedly threatening to turn ugly.
Spurs manager Andre Vilas-Boas said last week contract talks with the former Southampton starlet are ‘ongoing’.
