Julian Draxler will soon be the subject of a £17m bid from Tottenham, as Mauricio Pochettino seeks his first signing as Spurs boss.
The Metro are reporting that the long-term Arsenal target has emerged as one of the North London club’s top transfer targets, as they looks to build a young, hungry and technical side.
German midfielder Draxler, 20, currently plays for Schalke, and has made over 100 Bundesliga appearances for the club since making his senior debut in 2011.
According to two Gelsenkirchen newspapers, Schalke are bracing themselves for a big-money offer from Tottenham which could be submitted within the next few days.
The youngster is currently at the World Cup with his country, and made his first appearance in the tournament as a substitute in last night’s astonishing 7-1 win over hosts Brazil.
Draxler has said that he was expecting to stay put this summer, but could yet be tempted into a move to the Premier League. However, Schalke will also be in no rush to sell one of their prize assets, who has a £38m buyout clause in his contract.
One of the most wanted young players in Europe, Draxler revealed ahead of the World Cup that he turned down a move to Arsenal in January, and declared his intent to turn down any offers once again in this transfer window.
