Spurs target Chelsea’s brilliant playmaker Mata…
Tottenham will sensationally move for Chelsea’s Spanish midfielder Juan Mata, reports Get Football News.
Chelsea have made £30m Brazilian playmaker Willian their marquee summer signing, and questions have been raised over Mata’s future because of the large number of attacking midfielders at Stamford Bridge. Oscar, Eden Hazard, Victor Moses, Willian and Kevin De Bruyne are all currently vying for the attacking midfield spots, and strangely, despite his two consecutive Chelsea Player of the Year awards – Mata could now be surplus to requirements.
Spurs expect to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a world record £86m by the end of the week – and will aim to bring Mata in as his replacement.
The north-London club face competition from La Liga club Atletico Madrid, who are set to make an audacious loan bid for the creative Spaniard.
Mata bagged 20 goals and 35 assists in all competitions last season, and would appease many Spurs fans after star player Bale leaves White Harte Lane.
Whether Chelsea are willing to sell Mata still remains unclear, although they will more than likely have to offload at least one midfielder before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
