Redknapp has plenty of praise for the winger.
After a successful start to the 2013/14 season for Tottenham Hotspur and successive call-ups to the England national side, QPR manager Harry Redknapp has given the 22-year-old the highest praise.
Redknapp says that the Englishman has the potential to be as good as Bayern Munich ace Arjen Robben – having worked with the attacker at both Spurs and Loftus Road.
“If you look at Arjen Robben, Andros Townsend is the closest thing we have produced to him,” the former Tottenham boss was quoted by talkSPORT.
“I’m not saying he is Robben yet, he is not, but he is very similar. He plays on the right, dribbles well, runs at people, gets shots at goal.”
Townsend has played seven matches for the north London club in all competitions this term, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Last campaign the winger played 12 times under Redknapp at QPR whilst on-loan, although could not save the club from relegation despite two goals and two assists.
Although the player has obvious talent, Townsend is of course still some way of Robben – who has played for Chelsea, Real Madrid and now Bayern during an illustrious career.
The Dutchman has won two Premier League titles, La Liga, the Bundesliga twice and the Champions League,to give some impression of the success the 29-year-old has enjoyed.
Redknapp though is clearly of the opinion that Tottenham have a real talent on their hands and currently, things at White Hart Lane are looking very good indeed.
