Adebayor has made 13 Premier League appearances for Tottenham this season while scoring two goals.
The 31-year-old striker argued with his two brothers, and he claimed that this led to one of them to point a knife after he refused to hand over money.
Adebayor’s brothers, Kola, wanted to start a car business and demanded money from his brother while pointing a knife at him.
He did not put the knife down until Adebayor told him to kill him and take the money.
Adebayor’s other brother had stolen his teammates’ cell phones and an expensive necklace, according to a post he made on Facebook.
His brothers eventually died in 2012, but his feud with them drove him to consider killing himself.
“Many times I wanted to give up. Ask my sister Iyabo Adebayor how many times I have called and was ready to commit suicide,” Adebayor said to ESPN FC.
Adebayor has posted another Facebook message. The entirety of the message can be read here, but it is extremely lengthy.
