Spurs chasing Rio Ferdinand…

Tottenham have emerged as frontrunners to sign Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, who is available on a free transfer this summer, reports the Mirror.
It was thought QPR could snare the ageing central defender, due to Ferdinand’s connections with the Rangers boss Harry Redknapp from their days at West Ham together.
However, it’s likely that a move to Spurs would appeal to him, as he wants to relocate his family to London.
LA Galaxy and Galatasaray are also interested, and would be able to offer the former England international a hefty, hefty contract – but the 35-year-old would only consider a move abroad if negotiations to stay in the Premier League broke down.
Ferdinand arrived at United for £30m back in 2002, and won six Premier League medals, a Champions League crown and two League Cups during his tenure at Old Trafford.
