Spurs want to bolster their attack come January…
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has made Athletic Bilbao attacker Ibai Gomez a priority when the transfer window reopens in January, reports the Mirror.
The 23-year-old Spaniard has scored four league goals in 56 appearances for the Basque club, since being promoted to the first team two seasons ago. He normally starts in an advanced position on the left, where he enjoys cutting inside and linking up with his teammates.
Like most Spanish attackers, Ibai is technically accomplished, and is known in La Liga as a set-piece specialist. He regularly takes his fullback on, and enjoys getting to the byline and delivering telling crosses into his forwards.
Spurs already have Aaron Lennon, Christian Eriksen, Andros Townsend, Erik Lamela and Gylfi Sigurdsson as options in attacking midfield positions, and after their impressive start to the season, it seems unlikely that they really need another player to come in and fight for one of the positions.
Ibai though registered two goals and one assist for Bilbao during September, and has alerted Spurs, who wish to snap him up cheaply before his stock continues to rise.
He could set Spurs back around £8m, although Bilbao no doubt be eager to keep hold of the promising 23-year-old.
