Porto favourites for the Brazil international despite interest from White Hart Lane.
Brazil international Bernard has confirmed a desire to leave Atletico Mineiro this summer, with Porto the playmaker’s most likely destination.
Both Tottenham and Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund are tracking the 20-year-old but the arrival of Paulinho at White Hart Lane and Dortmund’s imminent capture of Liverpool target Henrikh Mkhitaryan leaves the Primera Liga outfit as front-runners.
Spurs reportedly offered £15m for the pint-sized midfielder last month but Atletico are said to be holding out for a fee closer to £22m.
According to Abola, Bernard is keen to follow his Selecao teammates Neymar and Paulinho to Europe this summer in order to increase his changes of being involved in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s 2014 World Cup squad.
The youngster is said to have told teammate Marcos Rocha that he will leave his homeland this summer – a conversation reported by the Portuguese source.
Bernard has earned five caps for Brazil and was part of the squad that won the Confederations Cup on home soil last month.
