The 23-year-old has been linked several times with a move to a bigger club, having impressed greatly during his time in the Scottish Premiership, though De Boer believes he should bide his time before leaving the club.
The Ajax boss feels the player would benefit from more experience of winning trophies with Celtic before the next step in his career.
“It is no surprise to me that he is being linked with clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United,” he said.
“It would be good for him to win trophies in the SPL first before he thinks about anything else – it will all be a part of his education.”
