Spurs could sign centre-half in “a matter of hours”.
Tottenham’s summer spending spree is showing no signs of abating after the club agreed a fee with Steau Bucharest for defender Vlad Chiriches.
Spurs were linked with a move for the 23-year-old last month but the deal appeared to break down, with Steau’s controversial owner Gigi Bacali insisting the centre-half was staying put.
But Romanian sports daily ProSport say the deal will be complete in a “matter of hours” after the North London club agreed to Bacali’s demands.
Spurs will pay €4m up front and a further €4m in the winter for Chiriches, who could be the club’s sixth major signing this summer, assuming Brazilian midfielder Willian completes his €30m switch from Anzhi Makhachkala in the next 24 hours.
Chiriches, who has 19 caps for Romania, has been left out the Steau squad for their Champions League qualifier with Legia Warsaw tonight.
