Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly submit a £15m bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino this week.
The Daily Mirror claims that Mauricio Pochettino has made signing the 21-year-old a priority after missing out on Danny Ings to Liverpool and AS Monaco’s Anthony Martial.
Tottenham are badly in need of striking reinforcements after the goalscoring burden was almost exclusively shouldered by Harry Kane during his incredible 31-goal breakthrough season.
Spurs scouts watched Berahino on several occasions last term as the England Under-21 international scored 14 goals in the Premier League and 20 in all competitions.
And now with Emmanuel Adebayor in talks with Aston Villa and Roberto Soldado expected to return to Spain, they are ready to make an offer for the Burundi-born forward.
West Brom know that Berahino is ambitious and would be open to a transfer to a top club, but are likely to push Spurs closer to the £20m mark or hope that other suitors start a bidding war. Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in Berahino.
