The north Londoners want to bring Napoli’s Pandev to White Hart Lane.
Napoli forward Goran Pandev has emerged as a January transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur as the club look to replace the departing Jermain Defoe, reports the Metro.
Defoe has agreed to join MLS franchise FC Toronto on February 28 and it will leave the north London side short of options in attack.
Therefore Spurs are looking towards Italy for reinforcement and Pandev could be allowed to leave Naples once the club secure two new players.
Hellas Verona midfielder Jorginho and Michel Bastos of Al Ain are both expected to make the switch to the Stadio San Paolo in the coming days.
This would mean Pandev would be free to leave Napoli and Tottenham would be prepared to snap up the Macedonia international.
Although the club have improved since the sacking of manager Andre Villas-Boas and Emmanuel Adebayor has been in fine form since the striker was reinstated in the starting XI, they are still weak up-front.
Beyond Adebayor there is only the out of form Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane as alternatives and Pandev could supply the top-class quality needed at White Hart Lane.
The 30-year-old has been with Napoli for two-and-a-half years since making the transfer from Inter Milan and has since scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists in 106 matches.
Pandev has the ability to play in the Nos.9 or 10 roles and can also operate out wide and to date the Macedonia captain has earned 71 caps and scored 26 goals.
