Luis Suarez vs Tottenham
As simplistic as it sounds, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas will know that the key to avoiding defeat against Liverpool will be stopping one man: Luis Suarez. But as the Portuguese experienced first-hand with Gareth Bale last season, stifling one of finest players in world football is easier said than done.
The absence of Jan Vertonghen is a major blow for Spurs, meaning Kyle Naughton is likely to deputise at left back for Danny Rose, who is lacking match fitness. Villas-Boas will pray that impressive summer signing Vlad Chiriches recovers from a knee complaint in time to partner Michael Dawson at centre half, or Suarez could be facing a makeshift defence.
Regardless of defensive personnel, Suarez will be difficult to stop without the help of defensive midfielder Sandro, who will be tasked with tracking his fellow South American and ensuring Suarez does not find space between the lines.
