Real Sociedad’s Carlos Vela on Spurs’ radar.
Tottenham were among the clubs interested in signing former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela this summer, according to Spanish daily AS.
The Mexican spent seven seasons at Arsenal from 2005, before leaving to join Real Sociedad permanently in summer 2012 after a successful season on loan at Anoeta.
The Gunners reportedly have the option to buy back the 24-year-old for a cut-price fee and Vela has been linked with a return to North London after bagging 26 La Liga goals in two seasons in Spain.
But the Mexico international could have been playing in white rather than red this season after it emerged that Spurs were interested in his services over the summer.
Spurs spent over £100m on new signings in July and August, including £26m on Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.
But the White Hart Lane outfit, flushed from the world record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, have continued to be linked with forwards and could yet move for Vela in the future.
