Rose in line for a return after injury but the winger is still sidelined.
There is good and bad news for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday, as Danny Rose is expected to return but Aaron Lennon will miss out, reports the Mirror.
Rose was absent for last weekend’s dramatic win at Cardiff City, after the left-back injured a toe during the previous match in the Europa League with Tromso.
However, the Englishman’s recovery has been quicker than expected and manager Andre Villas-Boas is delighted at the prospect of the 23-year-old playing.
“He gives us more options and the depth that he provides down the flank is excellent,” the Portuguese boss was quoted by the Mirror.
It will be a timely return for Spurs as the Blues will pose a much more serious threat than Cardiff did and there are major question marks over back-up Kyle Naughton’s capabilities.
The full-back has looked out of his depth when asked to step-in for Rose and it makes the loan of Benoit Assou-Ekotto to QPR all the more bewildering.
However, there is some bad news for Tottenham and Villas-Boas, as Lennon has still not recovered from the foot injury that has kept the winger out for several weeks.
Luckily for AVB attacking midfield is somewhere the north Londoners have an abundance of talent and Christien Eriksen, Lewis Holtby and Gylfi Sigursson are all in fine form.
Striker Emmanuel Adebayor and defender Younes Kaboul are also expected to miss the game at White Hart Lane with fitness issues.
