In yet another Chip Kelly special, the Eagles are reportedly jettisoning QB Nick Foles, who made the Pro Bowl in 2013, to St. Louis in exchange for Rams QB Sam Bradford, who missed all of 2014 with a torn ACL.

Foles took over the Eagles starting QB job in 2013 after QB Michael Vick went down with an injury and immediately flourished. He tied the NFL record for TDs in a game with seven against the Oakland Raiders. He would go on to lead the Eagles to a 10-6 record and an NFC East division title while leading the NFL with a 8.5% TD rating, 9.1 yards/pass, 14.2 yards/completion and a 119.2 passer rating. Foles’ 27-2 TD-INT rating that season was one of the best in NFL history. After being named the starter in 2014, Foles struggled in his first eight games, but still led the team to a 6-2 record before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury against the Houston Texans.
Bradford was the No. 1 overall pick by the Rams in the 2010 NFL draft, playing well in his rookie season and setting multiple NFL records for passing as a rookie en route to NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. But Bradford struggled to stay healthy and has only played two full seasons in a five-year NFL career. He missed the entire 2014 season after tearing his ACL – one year after missing nine games in 2013 for various injuries.
There is no confirmation on whether there will be any draft picks involved in this trade, but with the Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly’s burning desire to get Oregon QB Marcus Mariota in the 2015 NFL draft, it is possible the trade will somehow give the Eagles leverage to move up in the upcoming draft.
