Schweinsteiger has been pursued by United after helping lead Bayern Munich to three consecutive Bundesliga titles.
United are keen to upgrade their midfield and recruit support and cover for Michael Carrick, but Schweinsteiger, who scored five goals and contributed four assists in the 2014-15 season, has winning more championships with Bayern on his mind.
“We have won the Bundesliga for three consecutive times, no team has managed to win it four times. That is a motivation,” Schweinsteiger said, according to The Express.
Fortunately for the Red Devils, they are on track to land Morgan Schneiderlin and are expected to seal a £25m deal for the Southampton midfielder in the coming days.
