Galatasaray have entered the race for Di Maria.
Arsenal face competition from Galatasaray in the bid to sign Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid before the transfer window shuts, according to Turkish source Hurriyet.
The 25-year-old is one of a trio of Madrid players – along with Karim Benzema and Mesut Ozil – who are thought to be available to buy in order for Los Blancos to fund moves for Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez.
Di Maria has been in the Spanish capital since a £29m switch from Benfica in 2010 and has gone onto make 139 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 25 goals and providing 61 assists.
However, the arrival of Bale from Tottenham Hotspur, coupled with Isco having also been purchased this summer from Malaga, means that the Argentina international could struggle to obtain first team football.
This development sparked interest from the Gunners who are keen to improve their squad before September 2, as the only new acquisition in north London to date is France under-20 striker Yaya Sanogo.
Manager Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on all three Madrid players that would potentially be allowed to leave, but with Lukas Podolski being injured during the club’s Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce on Tuesday night, Di Maria could serve as a ready-made replacement.

Wenger’s men have struggled with fitness issues this term, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mikel Arteta also sidelined for some time.
However, with time running out and Gala also closing in, the Frenchman will have to act quickly if the 63-year-old wants to seriously bring Di Maria to the Emirates Stadium.
