Turkish side Besiktas are expected to complete a loan deal for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva in the next 48 hours, according to reports.
The Brazilian’s future at Anfield has come under question after he was left out of Liverpool’s opening two Premier League fixtures, and reports suggest Brendan Rodgers is keen to offload the long-serving midfielder.
Following the signing of James Milner, Lucas has dropped even further down the pecking order at the club, and Daily Star reports Besiktas are keen bring the 28-year-old to the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
Besiktas director Erol Kayner said a deal is due to be completed imminently.
“A loan deal is likely. It could go ahead within the next two days,” Kayner said.
Should Lucas make the move to the Turkish Super League, Liverpool are expected to make a move for Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
Lucas has made 196 Premier League appearances for the Reds since joining from Gremio in 2007.
