The 22-year-old was unstoppable as he made big play after big play as the Spurs shot over 50 percent and yet still somehow managed to lose the game.
While the highlight play came at the end of the fourth quarter with Irving burying a three-pointer to send the game into overtime, it was just one of many that he produced in a highlight-reel laden performance that even left LeBron James speechless.
Although critics question whether or not the likes of Irving and Kevin Love will be ready for the playoffs given that they have never featured in the post-season prior to this year, the Cavs point guard produced in one of the biggest games of the season and carried his team while under pressure.
Naturally, he isn’t expected to have many more shooting nights like this when everything seemingly went in for him, but if he can produce anything close to this on a consistent basis in the playoffs, then Cleveland will have yet another reason to be confident of sweeping all their rivals aside in their pursuit of a championship.
Here’s the best of the reaction from around the NBA to Irving’s incredible night…
