Fellow professionals tweet tributes to injured Brazil star. With the disappointing news that Brazil forward Neymar looks set to miss the rest of this summer’s World Cup, tributes have been pouring in from players and pundits alike, acknowledging the blow for such a talented player who’d been expected to be a star of this competition.
In fairness, Neymar hasn’t disappointed, scoring four goals for Brazil in his five appearances, and there’s no question now over his ability to perform on the big stage, with further opportunities surely set to follow at future World Cups.
Still, for Neymar himself and for his fans, it had been keenly anticipated that he could shine as his country host the 2014 tournament, and he will be a big loss for Brazil’s semi-final meeting with Germany.
Unsurprisingly, there was plenty of reaction to the news with many messages of support for the Barcelona man.
Sad if 100% true about @neymarjr being out of tournament, want to see all the big names fit & playing.
