Westbrook unstoppable as he enters MVP conversation: Curry, Harden and James have more competition.
The explosive point guard suffered the injury in an accidental collision with teammate Andre Roberson which left him with a visible dent in his face. The 26-year-old underwent surgery last week which was a success, but to offer the affected area some protection in the coming weeks, Westbrook will need to wear a mask.
While it has not yet been officially confirmed by OKC that he will return on Wednesday, it is certainly a boost for the Thunder that he is under consideration so soon after the injury as he had been averaging a triple-double in Kevin Durant’s absence.
That in turn ensured his name entered the MVP conversation, but ultimately he will be desperate to return in order to help Oklahoma City reach the playoffs this season.
However, as expected when it was suggested that he would have to wear a mask, Twitter had a field day and offered several potential designs to him.
