Premier League leaders Arsenal would have been hoping for a fairly comfortable night’s work when they were drawn against Sheffield Wednesday.
However, this evening’s fourth round clash at Hillsborough has started like a nightmare for Arsene Wenger’s Gunners. And not just because they are two goals down at half time!
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain limped off inside five minutes with a hamstring strain before his replacement, Theo Walcott, injured his calf and had to be subbed out too.
Arsenal then fell behind on the scoreboard when Ross Wallace swept home Barry Bannan’s low cross on 27 minutes, before Lucas Joao headed home double the Championship outfit’s lead.
In between the two goals, Wednesday defender Sam Hutchinson was shown a yellow card for a two-footed tackle on Gunners youngster Alex Iwobi.
Hutchinson was lucky not to be sent off, but Arsenal were equally fortunate that Iwobi did not become their third injured player of the match!
