Expatriates Driver and Barnes come through for the Dynamo in Stoke’s first US preseason tour match.
Houston Dynamo triumphed 2-0 in their hotly anticipated exhibition game against Stoke City of the Premier League.
Mark Hughes’ side arrived in Texas earlier in the week to commence their pre-season tour of the USA, but it didn’t get off to the start the Welshman would have wanted.
Former Hearts midfielder Andrew Driver curled home a measured freekick after just ten minutes to shock the visitors.
The rest of the match came and went but Stoke couldn’t manage a single shot. With two minutes left to play in regular time, former Derby County wonderkid Giles Barnes wrapped up the tie for the home side with a finish from a tight angle. Former Dynamo centre-back Geoff Cameron featured for Stoke, along with new signing Erik Pieters.
Stoke will hope they can pick up some form when they play the second game of their tour on Saturday against FC Dallas.
