UEFA are looking in to the idea of developing an NBA-style all star game which would see footballers playing in northern Europe compete against those from southern leagues on the continent.

The friendly bout would see fans voting for the participants in each side and could potentially mean the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will line-up alongside each other, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The northern set of players would be taken from the Premier League, Bundesliga, Eredivisie and the Russian Premier League.
Meanwhile the southern European XI would consist of stars from La Liga, Serie A and the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
There also need not be any fears about the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona dominating their specific XIs with the proposals restricting each club to around two or three players in the side.
So perhaps it won’t actually be the best players on the continent taking part.
If the spectacular event were to be developed it would likely premier no sooner than 2017 and clearly relies on the agreement of both clubs and players before any announcement can occur.
