It seems the recovery for Anderson Silva continues to gather pace with the former UFC champion announcing he has been cleared to begin active sparring again.
Silva announced the news in his native Portuguese on his personal Twitter account (above) as he ramps his recovery having previously gained clearance to begin basic training.
Silva, who has been out injured since last December when he suffered a horrific broken leg when facing Chris Weidman for the middleweight title at UFC 168, has been staying in Los Angeles during his recovery.
Most estimates place his possible return to active competition at late 2014 or, more likely, early 2015 with a possible return bout being against Nick Diaz, which would tick every promotional box available for the UFC.
However, the weight at which that fight would be fought and possible ring rust for both men, with Diaz away from competition even longer than Silva, also being two stockings points to any possible bout.
