CF – Shinji Okazaki (Japan)
Mainz striker Shinji Okazaki is is Japan’s third top scorer of all time and is coming to the World Cup on the back of a particularly impressive performance for his Bundesliga club.
The 28 year-old joined Mainz from divisional rivals Vfb Stuttgart, where he failed to impress to the same extent, but he has now fully established himself as one of Germany’s finest strikers.
With coach Alberto Zaccheroni favouring a 4-2-3-1 system, Okazaki may be shifted out on to the right flank, but his pace and finishing ability mean that he will remain a potent goal threat.
