Bastian Schweinsteiger was the victim of squad rotation at Bayern Munich towards the beginning of the campaign, but has returned in the second half to prove he can shine for Germany. That was recognised by the fans, and he claimed 48% of the vote.
Real Madrid and Spain star Xabi Alonso was second with 21%, while Michael Bradley of Toronto FC and the USA was third with 7%.
