Christian Benteke
The Red Devils are in need of a striker after allowing Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie to leave, and Aston Villa powerhouse Benteke is the most attainable of their list of high-profile targets.
So, seven new signings make the cut, but the likes of Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera have to make do with places on the bench. Van Gaal certainly has options, but here is our United XI:
