Blackburn’s ambitious hopes of signing Spain legend Raul have been boosted by a fall-out between the striker and Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick.
The 34-year-old striker made a point of not celebrating after scoring a brilliant solo goal against Cologne on Saturday.
Steve Kean is interested but has a limited budget while Malaga and Russian side Anzhi have also shown interest.
Before joining the Bundesliga side last summer Raul spent 16 years at Spanish giants Real Madrid where he made 741 appearances and scored 323 goals in all competitions.
He enjoyed a decent debut season at Schalke, netting 19 times in 51 appearances, as he became the highest goal scorer in UEFA competitions with 73 goals in his team’s run to the Champions League semi-finals.
During his time at the Bernabeu, he won 16 trophies including, six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues
