Ba is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Despite only having been at Chelsea for six months Demba Ba is likely to be sold this summer by Jose Mourinho with Anzhi Makhachkala preparing a bid, reports the Times.
Ba made a £7.5m switch to the Blues from Newcastle United back in January, but has failed to truly impress in west London and is considered unwanted under returning boss Mourinho.
Russian rich boys Anzhi are preparing to give the Senegalese striker a route out of Stamford Bridge, after a proposed loan switch to West Bromwich Albion fell through when the Baggies signed Nicolas Anelka on a free transfer instead.
Ba has had an indifferent time in England, netting seven times for West Ham back in 2011, before impressing greatly during 18 months at St James’ Park.
For the Magpies the 28-year-old couldn’t help but score, racking up 29 Premier League goals in 51 matches before making the move to Chelsea.
However, at the Bridge the Senegal international has managed just two league strikes and with the expected overhaul at the Blues under Mourinho, Ba is likely to be one of the causalities.
The Portuguese boss has promised talented young striker Romelu Lukaku playing time this season and is also desperately trying to sign Napoli ace Edison Cavani – although Paris Saint-Germain are seemingly leading that race.
Therefore either Ba or Fernando Torres – or possibly both – will need to be axed from the squad in order to make way for new arrivals and with Anzhi showing interest, the former Newcastle man could be on his way sooner rather than later.
