The Pirates took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never gave it up despite a 21-point rally by Hokies QB Michael Brewer to tie it up with less than two minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. But with only :26 remaining in the game, East Carolina QB Shane Carden posted his 4th TD of the game for the winning score.
The Hokies gave up over 500 yards of offense against the Pirates and 3 TDs by Carden in the first quarter.
Both teams move to 2-1, though neither should be expected to find themselves in the top 25 this week.
