In one of the huge upsets of the week, the Virginia Tech Hokies defeated the #21 Duke Blue Devils, 17-16.
Behind QB Michael Brewer, the Hokies led two TD drives, including the lead-changing TD drive in the 4th quarter to seal the victory. As good as the Duke defense played at home, the Hokies defense was better, forcing two INTs from Duke QB Anthony Boone as well as a pair of missed FGs.
Virginia Tech, which had been riding a 3-game losing streak, recorded their second road win over a ranked team this season since they beat Ohio State back in Week 2. The Blue Devils, on the other hand, had scored 30 points or more in six of their 8 wins this season. They had not lost a game at home since a September 21, 2013 loss to Pittsburgh.
The Duke Blue Devils are the defending ACC Coastal division champions. Despite this loss they still own a slight edge over Georgia Tech for the title again.
The Virginia Tech Hokies, despite their big win, are only 5-5 and in last place in the ACC Coastal division.
