26 year-old has completed his contract with Helsingborgs.
OuestFrance.fr have reported that USA’s Alejandro Bedoya is set to sign for French club Nantes, after seeing out his contract with Helsingborg. Bedoya allegedly had offers from a number of different clubs but has chosen to join newly promoted Nantes in Ligue 1, and will be their first North American player.
Bedoya performed well in his time at Helsingborg who currently sit top of the Allsvenskan league, scoring six goals, and will reportedly sign a three-year contract with Nantes, who finished in third place in Ligue 2 last season to secure promotion to the French top flight.
Bedoya performed well in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, providing Brek Shea with an assist for the goal that won the final against Panama, and will hope regular European football will keep him in USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s plans.
Bedoya comes from a decent footballing stable; both his father and grandfather played professional football in Columbia, and he has played in Europe throughout his career, playing with Örebro in Sweden for two years before a move to Scottish side Rangers in 2011. When the club were relegated to the Scottish Third Division Bedoya returned to Sweden for his spell with Helsingborg.
