Moyes confirms the United top-scorer will be back.
There is good news for Manchester United ahead of their Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion as David Moyes confirms Robin Van Persie will be fit to play.
The 30-year-old was forced to sit out last week’s Manchester derby and the English champions certainly missed their talisman, as they suffered a 4-1 humiliation at the hands of rivals Manchester City.
Yet Moyes says the striker will be back and the Baggies could be the victims of a Red Devils backlash.
“Robin will be back, involved somewhere. He trained today and is fit. But we’ll have to see exactly where he is,” the 50-year-old was quoted by Goal.
The Scot has had something of an inconsistent start to the former Everton boss’ tenure at Old Trafford, losing league fixtures to both City and Liverpool and drawing at home to Chelsea.
Van Persie has scored four times in all competitions and after netting 30 during the Dutchman’s debut season at the club, will be a welcome addition to the side.
Moyes’ team will be wanting to banish the memories of the Etihad Stadium as soon as possible – something that was helped with a 1-0 victory over the Reds in the mid-week League Cup tie.
However, three points in the league would be even more satisfactory for the club and with West Brom in indifferent form, this is fairly likely.
The Birmingham team’s 3-0 win against struggling Sunderland was their first triumph of the season in the English top tier.
