Fabregas may choose Old Trafford to link up with his former teammate.
With rumours rife that Cesc Fabregas will join either Manchester United or Arsenal from Barcelona, the presence of Robin Van Persie could tempt the Spaniard to Old Trafford.
Fabregas has such a strong link with Arsenal and is constantly declaring his affection for the club publicly since his departure to Spain in 2011, so it would only be Van Persie that could tempt him anywhere else.
The pair enjoyed seven successful years playing together for the Gunners, which included an FA Cup win in 2005.
With the Dutchman now at Old Trafford and having already enjoyed Premier League success in only his first season at United, it’s believed the 29-year-old could convince the Barca midfielder to join him.
Although the Spain international clearly has an affinity with his old club, the fact that Arsenal have not won a trophy for eight years may play on the midfielder’s mind.
Fabregas has become used to success in Catalonia, picking up a La Liga winners medal this season under new manager Tito Vilanova.
However, his £30million move from the Emirates to the Nou Camo has not been quite as prosperous as maybe the 26-year-old would have hoped.
Although Fabregas has scored 13 goals in 45 games in all competitions for the La Liga champions this year, he has failed to break the midfield partnership of Xavi and Andre Iniesta and with so much other competition in the centre of the field the Spaniard may want an out.
United would certainly welcome a player of Fabregas’ quality as other than Michael Carrick the side have limited options in central midfield.
New boss David Moyes will be hoping his star striker can tempt his former Arsenal teammate to Manchester as he prepares for his first season in the Old Trafford dugout.
