Tottenham Hotspur take on AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II in the Europa League on Thursday night, with former Chelsea man Ricardo Carvalho likely to marshal the hosts’ defence.
After their morale-boosting 4-1 win over Manchester City at the weekend, Spurs will hope to take that kind of form with them when they travel across the English Channel.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men started their Europa League campaign in impressive fashion with a 3-1 win over Qarabag, but this will certainly be a sterner test of their credentials with Monaco boasting some top names despite falling short in qualification for the Champions League.
Anthony Martial may have departed, but here are five players that Spurs must look out for on Thursday night…
5. Ricardo Carvalho
He may be 37 years old now, but the Portuguese stalwart will form part of a stubborn backline for the hosts and his experience will undoubtedly make it difficult for Tottenham.

4. Andrea Raggi
Although the Italian will be tasked with keeping Tottenham at bay first and foremost, his offensive threat should not be underestimated. Scored against Valencia in the Champions League qualifying round, and found the net at the weekend in Ligue 1 too.
3. Bernardo Silva
A product of Benfica’s youth system, the Portuguese youngster is now starring at Monaco and will continue to deputise for compatriot Joao Moutinho. The 21-year-old will be the main creative threat.

2. Fabio Coentrao
On loan from Real Madrid, he joins a burgeoning group of Portuguese stars looking to impress after being ousted by Marcelo at the Bernabeu. Will be a constant threat down the left flank if he features.
1. Stephan El Shaarawy
Coach Leonardo Jardim has been unpredictable at times with his line-up, but El Shaarawy should get the nod. A one-time Arsenal transfer target, he will cause Spurs problems with his pace and movement.
