The Western Sydney Wanderers star’s ferocious hit was in vain as the Socceroos lost 4-3 in their final East Asian Cup match.
Australia midfielder Aaron Mooy submitted a contender for ‘Goal of the Tournament’ following his stunning strike against China in the East Asian Cup on Sunday.
With the Socceroos trailing to a fifth minute opener Mooy picked up the ball 30-yards out and unloaded a right-foot missile that zipped past goalkeeper Yang Zhi into the bottom corner.
Sadly, it proved a false dawn as Holger Osieck’s side lost the game 4-3 and finished the competition in last place.
