Rossoneri’s talisman delivers again with stunning strike.
Despite a disappointing performance on Friday night, a moment of magic from Mario Balotelli was enough to secure AC Milan a 1-0 win over Bologna at San Siro.
The Rossoneri had been struggling to breakdown a stubborn Bologna defence, with coach Clarence Seedorf becoming increasingly animated on the sidelines as his side looked set for another disappointing result.
However, his 23-year-old striker had other ideas as he stepped up with five minutes remaining to strike home a shot that was recorded at 56 mph from 43 yards out.
“To score a goal like that you also need training and I do train a lot with this type of shot after the end of the regular session with my teammates,” he told Mediaset Premium, as reported by Football Italia.
“Of course, there is also the talent God gave me, but I train too.”
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani described it as being the goal of the year without question, and after such an emotional week for Balotelli both on and off the pitch, it was undoubtedly a glorious moment for the Italian international.
Despite the nature of the performance, Seedorf will be delighted to have picked up another three points, as Milan now look ahead to the visit of Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
However, the critics still question his 4-2-3-1 system, given the struggles on Friday as Bologna had chances to snatch a win.
Nevertheless, Balotelli made his quality count and decided the game, watch the video below to see his stunning strike against Bologna:
