Spaniard hoping for a fresh start in Italy after struggles at Stamford Bridge…
After signing a two-year loan deal to join Italian giants AC Milan, former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is set to be unveiled to the media on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old endured a difficult period in his career with Chelsea, but having accepted a new challenge in a new league, he will be desperate to prove that he still has plenty left to offer.
With the Rossoneri starting a new era under Coach Pippo Inzaghi, the 41-year-old will hope to get the best out of his new signing as he will likely play an integral role this season.
Inzaghi played a 4-3-3 in the opening day win over Lazio on Saturday, and it is widely expected that Torres will play as the main striker with Stephan El Shaarawy and Jeremy Menez providing width and space for the Spanish international.
It remains to be seen whether or not a move to San Siro can reignite Torres, but after being greeted by hundreds of fans upon his arrival in the city, it is clear that there is a great deal of excitement over what he can achieve in Serie A.
The Spaniard is expected to be unveiled to the media at Casa Milan at 6 pm UK time, with CEO Adriano Galliani likely to be beside him to discuss the club’s summer transfer market which also saw them sign Marco Van Ginkel on loan from Chelsea and Giacomo Bonaventura.
