The Ghanaian star arrives at San Siro with a wealth of experience both at club and international level, and revealed that he spoke personally with Milan boss Clarence Seedorf prior to making his decision.
Despite previous injury concerns, Essien will likely play a vital role as Milan look to progress in the Champions League, while Seedorf hopes to continue to improve their Serie A standing after two wins in two games.
However, the arrival of the former Chelsea star hasn’t been met with universal acceptance, as certain sections of the supporters have shared their displeasure with the club’s move away from a youth policy that they initially promised would shape their future.
Essien will likely fight with both Riccardo Montolivo and Nigel De Jong for a deep-lying role in the new 4-2-3-1 system, but it is unclear at this stage as to when he will make his debut for his new club.
