Magpies boss has sent his Sunderland counterpart a welcoming letter to the North-East ahead of the derby.
Newcastle United head coach Alan Pardew says he does not expect any fireworks on the touchline from opposing Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio in Sunday afternoon’s Tyne-Wear derby.
The two arch rivals clash at St James’ Park in a match of huge significance, but the Magpies boss says that with the spotlight on the visitors’ controversial new trainer, he thinks Di Canio will remain calm on the sidelines.
And Pardew has also asked his team to produce the same level of performance that they displayed against Benfica on Thursday night against the strugglers.
