A deal looks as good as done for Spurs to sign the Frenchman.
As Tottenham Hotspur close in on a deal for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue, fanatix takes a look at what all the fuss is about for this former Arsenal target.
Capoue is a product of the Ligue 1 club’s youth academy and broke into the first team in 2007, having gone on to make 196 appearances in all competitions.
The defensive midfielder has earned six caps for the France national team to date, having been capped at every youth level before that.
Although usually deployed in-front of the back four, Capoue can also operate slightly further up the pitch or as a centre-back.
The Frenchman was dropped by Toulouse for some of last season due to poor form, but the strengths of the 25-year-old are significant – with a wide range of passing, coupled with strength and determination that should make the Spurs target an ideal suitor for the Premier League.
