Speculation suggests it is likely Wiggins will be used in trade deal for Kevin Love…
Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Andrew Wiggins has revealed that ultimately he wants to play his first year in the league for a team that wants him.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN during the NBA Rookie Day photo shoot on Sunday, Wiggins was tentative when questioned on his future and how he is able to handle the current situation with so much speculation.
The 19-year-old insisted that he is trying to focus on preparing his game for the NBA, and while he “hopes” that the Cavaliers want him, he is knowledgeable enough to appreciate that this is a business and ultimately he will play for whoever wants him.
Wiggins signed his rookie contract with the Cavs on July 24 and as a result is ineligible to be part of any trade deal for 30 days, and while some have suggested that this is an awkward interview, given his age and the new-found attention he is receiving, Wiggins does admirably well to answer the questions without being disrespectful in what is undoubtedly a testing time for him.
Nevertheless, sources close to the situation continue to suggest that he will depart Cleveland as part of the deal to take Kevin Love in the opposite direction from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
