Arsene Wenger has offered his clearest hint yet that Arsenal will attempt to bring in a few names in the final days of the January transfer window.
The Gunners are currently in somewhat of an injury crisis – particularly in central midfield – with Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere missing through injury and Mathieu Flamini now suspended after his red card against Southampton.
The top transfer target the newspapers all seem to agree upon is FC Schalke 04’s Julian Draxler, who has been strongly linked with a £24.7m move, while Wenger may yet attempt to bring in a centre forward and centre back with limited cover in each position.
The French coach was asked about the likelihood of acquisitions in the January transfer window, and hinted with a smile there could be some surprises in the final days of the market.
“I have nothing to tell you tonight; maybe I hope we have something to tell you because we lost a few players now,” the Gunners boss told Sky Sports with a smile.
